In recognition of Mother’s Day today, we asked our ACB Next Generation members to tell us about their mom and what she means to them. Here’s what some of them said:
Jordan Mirander
“My mother is the kindest, nicest, and sweetest person that I know. My mother is such a generous and giving person, and my mother has always modeled the life of a true Christian. I love my mother. She is such a caring person.”
Jessica Dail
“My mom is marvelous because she’s my best friend. She has been since the day I was born and always will be. She is my travel buddy. We go just about everywhere together. She’s also funny, and you never know what she’ll say next. She’s beautiful inside and out. She is caring. These are the things that make my mom a marvelous mom! Happy Mother’s Day to her and all the other amazing moms on this crazy planet!”
Greg Lindberg
“My mom has always been there to support and encourage me throughout my life. She is incredibly smart, caring, funny, and definitely the life of the party. I appreciate everything she has done for me more than she’ll ever know. Happy Mother’s Day, mom! And the same to all the moms out there in ACB NextGen and beyond!”
Jane L. Toleno (former ACB NextGen member)
“From my twins and my earliest days growing up in Portland, Oregon, mom’s on-point sentences infused my life with purpose, direction, and encouragement. ‘Let’s go see. What and why do you think it’s that way? How would you describe or explain it to somebody else?’ and the all-important responsibility teaching statement? ‘’Janie, you better go find your glasses wherever you put them. Keep them on your pretty little face or put them where you can find them when you need them next time.’ She didn’t often say, ‘I love you,’ but I knew she did.
When I became a mom, I’ve recalled my mom’s example and instructions, refined them, and declared them to our daughter and son as often as needed – likely more than needed, I suspect. But the Most important sentence I ever learned to speak into their lives was – and still is – ‘I LOVE YOU.’ They never grow tired of hearing it. I never weary of saying it. In their early 50s now, they keep on life building based on Love. As an individual, in all areas of my life, I desire that Love underpins my words and actions.”
